Please note that the pool WILL NOT OPEN if the air temperature is less than 20C
and will be CLOSED on Christmas Day.

Audax Australia holds its annual 100km Pyrenees Magic charity bike ride in November each year. The ride for charity is to raise money for Maryborough District Health Servcies.
This year's event will be on Saturday 14th November 2009.

| Approximately 150 riders particpate each year and the riders leave the Avoca River Flats at 9am and head for Moonambel. From there they will head for Landsborough and on to Elmhurst. After checking in at the check point riders will then proceed to Nowhere Creek and make their way back along Sandy Lane and on to Amphitheatre. |

The ride will conclude back at Avoca.

| The Avoca Riding Club is affiliated with the Horse Riding Clubs Association of Victoria which provides the club with personal accident and public liability insurance cover. It is not a pony club but older children are welcome to join. The club grounds are situated at the foot of the Pyrenees Mountains at the picturesque Avoca Racecourse Reserve.
Rallies are generally held on the 4th Sunday of the month for instruction in dressage and jumping. Members take it in turns to lead scenic trail rides on the 2nd weekend of each month commencing from different locations and visiting new areas in the region.

The Avoca Tennis Club plays pennant tennis in the Maryborough & District Association. Junior tennis (C grade & C special) play in the morning, with afternoon consisting of B grade, A reserves & A grade. Pennant tennis runs from October through to March each year.
The Tennis courts are located at the Avoca Recreation Reserve are unlocked and available for use, free of charge by the community.

The Avoca Golf Club has a reputation that spreads far and wide among golfers around Victoria. The 18 hole sand scrape course is well maintained and set in a peaceful river side setting with the Avoca River meandering its way through the course.
The club house is fully licensed and seats 100 people. The club catering committee can
cater for weddings, birthdays, after funeral gatherings or any other function and is also available for hire for patrons who wish to self cater.
There are no provisions for BYO.
Reverse Cycle air conditioning has recently been installed and while the kitchen is serviceable there are plans to up grade the facilities to attract patronage.
The committee also plans to renovate to building to provide wheelchair access and facilities.
The members of the club have and will continue to support the community by providing
off-site catering for private functions.

Avoca competes in the Maryborough Castlemaine District Football / Netball League so each Saturday during winter much of the town heads to the Avoca Public Park to cheer on one of the 3 football and 4 netball teams. The club's football and netball teams have a long and proud history and have achieved much success since its establishment more than 130 years ago.

The French game of petanque has become a hit in Avoca especially for the competition circuit. There are a number of competitions held each year, with the Autumn Tournament in March and the Pyrenees Petanque Tournament held in December each year.
The event attracts interest from the local community as well as national/international visitors.

OPEN WOMEN’S DOUBLES – As above.
Prizes in excess of $1,800 awarded at the end of the day.
SUNDAY’S PROGRAM
OPEN DOUBLES – Any gender mix $10 entry fee minimum of 4 games, then knock out competition in Principale, Consulante and Social Categories.

REGISTRATION – On both days 9.00 to 9.30 for a 9.45 start.

| The Avoca Shire Turf Club has been operating for over 151 years, missing only six race seasons during WWII. In fact, the Avoca Cup has been around two years longer than Melbourne Cup providing the Club with a long and interesting history.
The Club runs two race meetings each racing season, being the PJA & Blue Pyrenees Avoca Cup on Caulfield Cup Day and the Mount Avoca ANZAC Day Races on ANZAC Day. Both race meetings are great fun and are well recognized as being the biggest in the state on those days.

Welcome to the Avoca Cricket Club
The 2008/2009 season officialy commenced with a successful Annual meeting recently conducted.
Bill Drummond and Andy Prisco have again taken on the roll of President and Secreatry / Treasurer respectively.
The Club has decided to again enter a senior team in the Pyrenees Association. Our junior teams will again compete in the Maryborough District Cricket Association in Under 12, 14 and 16 grades.
2010 Grand Final : March 13th & 14th at Avoca between Avoca & Waubra.
Both semi finals were washed out last weekend resulting in Lexton and Natte Yallock missing out on their opportunity to make the finals.

The club is pleased to announce that Dale Harrison has returned to the club and is joining Bill Drummond as Under 16 coach.
Doug Hicks returns again as under 14 coach and we are yet to fill the under 12 position.
The very popular Milo- Have a Go program - In2Cricket will be running again with Adrian Pilgrim and Rick Corney as this seasons Co-ordinators.

AVOCA LADIES CHAMPIONSHIPS 10-6-2009
Lorraine Gollop won her 20th consecutive Avoca Ladies Championship on Wed 10th of June 09. Lorraine has won 22 championships in
total at the Avoca course. We congratulate her on her win.
Lorraine scores 1st Round 79-8-71 2nd round 85-8-80 final round 88-8-80 giving her a total of 252 to take out the championship and 228 for the handicap event. Lorraine also won the putting competition .
