Natte Yallock Landcare AGM
After the election of Office Bearers for 2010-2011 members were keen to learn of the situation regarding the possibility of locust infestation in spring 2010.
A representative from the DPI indicated that there was a high probability of widespread pest infestation of nymphs developing in October & November 2010.
Victoria is gearing up for what could be the worst locust outbreak in almost 40 years.
To enable locusts to be dealt with efficiency and without endue personal hardship, Victorian farmers will be rebated 100% of the purchase price of registered chemicals used to treat locust hoppers on their properties during spring.
The most effective outcome requires landholders working collaboratively in their local communities and with DPI to ensure a coordinated response.
Further information on the arrangements for administering the chemical rebate scheme will be made available in the coming weeks through the press and on the DPI website http://new.dpi.vic.gov.au/home
DPI hotline 1300 135559 8am to 6pm Mon to Fri
