The Avoca Chinese Garden committee would like to invite the community to the ‘Garden of Fire and Water’ to celebrate the second birthday of the garden on Tuesday 11th October.
Activities to celebrate the Year of the Monkey and the 2nd birthday will commence with the Avoca Primary School children escorting the Pyrenees Dragon from the school to the garden via the main street. The dragon will be in the garden by 12:30pm and small groups of children will then present a couple of short plays for the Avoca Pre school children who will join them for the celebrations.
This year is the Year of the Monkey and people born in the Year of the Monkey ( 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016) are charming, cheeky and clever. They are compatible with people born in the years of Dragon and Rat and their lucky colors are white, blue and gold.
The recent rains and floods have seen the garden under water up to the pavilion, however there was little damage caused by the rising water.
President of the Avoca Chinese Garden, Helen Carruthers commented “The garden is looking splendid with the cherry blossoms in full bloom and the choir of frogs echo throughout the garden. As we head into our third year we are excited with its growth and development and look forward to sharing the Chinese Garden story with visitors to town and hosting future events in and around the garden.”
