Pyrenees Shire Council has launched a shop local campaign to support the business community through COVID-19.
Council is facilitating the promotion of local businesses alongside Business for Beaufort and Advance Avoca through social media competitions. Facebook pages Visit Avoca, Visit Pyrenees and Destination Beaufort will run daily competitions from local businesses.
Residents are encouraged to enter the competition, as well as 'like and share' the business page.
Council Mayor Tanya Kehoe said the campaign was about supporting local business where possible, and within the strict social distancing guidelines.
“Many businesses are adapting, moving online and/or providing take away meals to keep open during this pandemic,” Cr Kehoe said. “We applaud their ability to remain agile in this uncertain period, and we would like locals to support them where possible,” she said. Pyrenees residents are encouraged to like and follow the Visit Avoca, Visit Pyrenees and Destination Beaufort pages to get involved. “We need to support our local businesses as these are the people that employ our children, financially back our sporting clubs and are the highest employers of part-time and casual employees,” Cr Kehoe said. “You never know, you might discover your new favourite take away spot,” she said.
