Shire Projects Commence in Avoca
Small and large projects are happening in Avoca and Council is working with communities and funding partners including State and Federal governments, to deliver these important projects.
The Avoca BBQ Shelter was storm damaged several years ago and had to be removed due to safety issues. Plans for a new shelter have finally been approved and construction is due to commence in the coming weeks. This will be a welcome addition to the Avoca Streetscape and will provide shelter for visitors and locals alike.
The Avoca Shire Hall upgrade work is continuing, with fire safety the focus for the entire building. The upgrade will refurbish the old Avoca Shire offices to provide a useful space for business and community hubs.
The Avoca Streetscape project is progressing with safe crossing points being assessed and designed. Once plans are finalised they will be shared with the community.
Construction of footpaths from the Sunraysia Hwy along North St and York Ave to the Avoca Railway Station have been approved and will commence in August weather permitting.
Drought funding has also provided money to install a new synthetic green at the Avoca Bowls Club along with new shade shelters in time for the opening of the season in October.
The Avoca Lions Park carparking area has been sealed.
